IPL Before and After Pictures

I feel it’s my responsibility to try out all dermatological anti-aging procedures before you do.

In case they are disastrous.

I suppose you can think of me as your minion who tastes your food before you do, in case it’s poisoned. Didn’t someone do that for Jesus? Or was it Voldemort?

I can’t be sure.

In any case, this time I’ve tried IPL, also known as Intense Pulsed Light Therapy.

I had my four treatments at Dr. Rebecca Fitzgerald’s office on Larchmont Ave. in Los Angeles.

Dr. Fitzgerald describes IPL thusly:

“IPL delivers high-intensity computer-controlled pulses of light that penetrate your skin and heat the sub-surface layers. Our staff uses IPL to reverse brown spots caused by sun damage and unwanted spider veins, while stimulating healthy, new collagen.”

And these are some of the other conditions IPL treats:

  • Sun damage.
  • Flushing.
  • Skin texture.
  • Redness.
  • Broken capillaries.
  • Brown spots.
  • Age spots.
  • Dark circles around the eyes.
  • Sun-induced freckles on the hands, chest, and face.
  • Broken capillaries around the nose.
  • Excels in helping the reduction of fine wrinkles and large pores.
Below, you’ll find my IPL before and after pictures.

I must love you to post these, because I’m so much cuter than this!

But I think you’ll see my complexion is drastically improved. I’m ebullient with the results and was frankly startled by how much red and brown I had in my skin.

I blame the 70s, where sunscreen consisted of baby oil, Sun In and tanning reflectors. With no further ado:

  1. I meandered over here in a very roundabout way, and am thrilled I came across this post. I see a wonderful difference in your skin. You are gorgeous – good bones, as they say – and I wouldn’t have thought anything about your skin. But — when I saw the after picture my eyes got big. I’m 45 now and I look in the mirror and wonder what has happened in the past few years. My face is still my face but I look…. different. I’m really excited about looking into IPL now. I’d thought of it as a treatment for spider veins on your legs. Thank you for posting real, not-on-the-doctor’s-website pictures!

    1. Hey Jenny K — glad the article was useful. I think IPL is definitely the best thing I’ve tried. I too was pretty surprised by the after photo.

  2. I am SO sorry if I’m double-posting. I wasn’t sure my first comment worked.

  3. You wrote that EACH treatment cost you $750. I live in LA as well and think you may be mistaken? My doctor’s office charges closer to $350 per session.
