My First Fashion Friday! Bungalow 20-Style

As many of you know from my 71 Dresses in 71 Days project I love clothes.

I blame my dad. His philosophy during my childhood was “if you’re clean and covered it’s good enough,” which lead Ralph Conroy to ask me in front of my entire 7th grade homeroom, “Didn’t you already wear those pants three times this week, Shannon?”

I hope Ralph Conroy is wearing mom jeans as I type this and I’m planning to take the money for my next 71 dresses out of my dad’s long-term healthcare fund. Be afraid, dad! Be very afraid.

But I digress.

I’ve always wanted  to write about fashion on my site and now I get the chance! Ilyse Bronte and Kim Hoffman are two fashion-forward, enviably lovely moms at my daughter’s elementary school.

Here they are:

Kim (left) wears the Metallic Sand Python Embossed Tank ($48), the Brown Suede and Shearling Vest (52$). Ilyse (right) wears the Striped Long-Sleeved Cardigan ($68), the Charcoal Front Pocket Tank ($19) and the Black and Midnight Blue Multi-Layer Necklace ($48)

Kim and Ilyse are the kind of moms you see dashing about campus xeroxing things yet somehow looking like they just stepped off the pages of the Sundance catalogue. I admired them from afar.

So I was surprised and delighted when they approached me to ask if I’d like to be an affiliate for their new, fashion venture Bungalow 20.

Bungalow 20 is the brainchild of Kim and Ilyse, born of the moment they realized their children didn’t need them as much anymore, and that they were spending far too much time meeting for matinee movies during school hours.

Prior to creating families, both Kim and Ilyse we pros in the fashion industry, but decided they needed to create their own brand in order to maintain flexibility in their working hours.

Kim and Ilyse discussed what they thought was missing in the fashion marketplace and realized that what many of their mom friends were looking for were high-quality, low-maintenance, on-trend clothes at affordable prices.

I had the great good fortune to visit the brick-and-mortar Bungalow 20 in Kim’s converted garage. There I found an array of funky, fun, adorable tops, dresses, handbags and an assortment of jewelry you can find places like Madewell and JCrew for 20-50% more.

I was there to get all the information needed to begin our relationship on Fashion Fridays but it was all I could do not to just start shopping. Sigh.

So pop over to Bungalow 20’s online site and if/when you find something you love, the code for my readers is “Shannon15”.

Shipping is free, and you’ll get 15% off of your order (on everything except the jewelry tattoos) and I’ll be earning toward an outfit. Then we can meet for drinks, dancing and roller derby in our new clothes.

Here are a few more selections from Bungalow 20.

Hey Kathleen — if you live in L.A. you should stop by their shop. It’s dangerous.

I’m always so envious of people who can put an outfit together and look great with ease. Me, on the other hand, I always look like I’ve gotten dressed in a tornado by a color blind chipmunk or something.. Snagging some outfit ideas.. thanks..

Hey Bodynsoil I suspect you look adorable in your fripperies. What I love about these clothes is the drape. I’ve come to accept I may be keeping my little baby belly and these clothes just slenderize and leave her alone to roam at will.

I need someone to dress me every morning. Since I spend 75% of my time in pj’s I just don’t have what it takes. I love these styles!

Hey Rena — I didn’t get out of my pjs yesterday till 2 pm. Working at home has its downside I suppose.
