Why you Must Run not Walk to the BlogHer 2014 Conference aka Your Vagina Wants you to go!

Okay people, as an ambassador for this year’s BlogHer 2014 conference I must ask this question: Who wouldn’t  want to attend a conference where one of the keynote speakers is known for saying this, “If someone asked me to pick my own vagina’s mug shot out of a lineup of vaginas, I’d be helpless. And probably concerned about what exactly my vagina had been doing that constituted a need for its own mugshot?”

Not me. I would not, not want to go. Because Jenny Lawson aka The Bloggess  will be one of the keynote speakers at the #BlogHer14 conference to be held in San Jose this July  24-26th (and I’m hoping she can teach me better grammar).

So run, don’t walk, to register HERE at a discounted price. And if you need further convincing …

Last year’s event in Chicago was one of the highlights of my blogging life. I was named one of BlogHer’s top 12 Voices of The Year for 2013 in the Inspiration category and was introduced by Queen Latifah onstage before thousands of my mentors and peers in the blogging community where I read my prim, ladylike post titled, What I Know About Sex now That I’m in my 40s. It was a pinnacle experience to say things like this:

After 40 it isn’t just your ears and nose that get bigger, so do some of your lady bits. Last month five mariachi singers rushed to the table where my husband Henry and I dined.  They tripped, fell and were never seen again. I think they fell into my vagina. I can’t be entirely sure because I didn’t feel a thing.  But sometimes in the shower I hear the faint echo of — ‘Quan tan ameda o sea Quan tan ameda.’

Aside from getting to be a big show-off, BlogHer ’13 was also my opportunity to connect with so many of my online mentors, friends and communities in the real world. I was a bit uncharacteristically shy at first, but over the wild and woolly course of 48 hours I deepened so many of those friendships by having that rare opportunity to be face to face.

Along with The Bloggess this year, Kerry Washington of Scandal fame will be speaking (but will she bring Tony Goldwyn? One can only hope!)

As well as Arianna Huffington (the ultimate blog master of the universe) and breakout stand-up comedian/writer Tig Notaro.

#BlogHer14 is also a cool opportunity to connect with the brands that drive our business and a place to learn the techinical and marketing skills that are integral to our success as bloggers.

I hope to see you there. I’ll be the one with the sound of maracas emanating from my southern regions.
