Other People’s Kids Suck!
May 10th, 2012
Hey guys, I’m over at Aiming Low today with Other People’s Kids Suck!
I’d love to send some traffic there as there are so many great writers! Among my favorites are Alexandra from Good Day, Regular People she’s actually too nice to be a blogger, but has a rapier wit (rapier – good word)
Beta Dad who’s kind of hot except he says he has “man boobs” and his kind of gym workout looks like a beer belly at a gun show.
And finally there is Anissa Mayhew who is wheelchair bound due to several strokes, but doesn’t want your pity because she’s the original Gangsta Bitch! She writes at #FreeAnissa

Shannon,
Jamie did herself a disservice by not setting boundaries w/ the media. While I certainly believe TIME is guilty of using her and this provactive pose to sell magazines. Jamie, herself allowed this to happen and for that I am sad and disappointed. I hate to see women exploited by the media and she allowed it.
I, for one had a similar experience w/ Sheila @ Lifetime, one of your part-time employers. My experience was that she flew me and my husband to NY for a meeting to develop a story on my life for Lifetime. I felt comfortable w/ the contracted producers and team, thus I agreed to travel to the meeting.
And immediately after enduring 5 minutes of Sheila’s questioning upon meeting I simply started to walk out, remembering my manners, I looked her straight in the eye and said: “I’m not interested in working with you and allowing myself to be exploited.”
Setting boundaries and having the courage to stick with them is what it takes. The media uses people and we, as women should do everything to stop it.
Enjoy your day!

Hi DN — I definitely agree with a lot of what you’re saying. I can’t speak for Jamie — but in my defense of her I write she’s “trusting because she’s trustworthy.” I honestly don’t think she could’ve foreseen the spin on the headline. More will be revealed, but once bitten twice shy. I’m sure next time – and for her there will be one – she’ll be more careful.
Thanks! Heading over to Aiming Low : )
What? You didn’t tell me you were lovin’ me up and down here, lady.
Hey now, too nice?
What can I do to change that?
I know. I’ll hang out with you at BlogHer.

We shall hang. Can hardly wait. xo
